Originally from the suburbs of Detroit, MI, Matthew graduated from Michigan State University worked for 19 years in the private golf club management business, including a stint as the Director of Golf Courses at the venerable Winged Foot Golf Club - a five-time U.S. Open venue perennially ranked among the Top 10 in the nation. While managing some of the elite private golf clubs in the country, Matthew became adept at understanding and exceeding clientele expectations under high-pressure situations. His character traits that garnered success in the golf business, such as commitment to working long hours, excellent communication skills, extensive industry knowledge, and ability to think outside the box, have translated well in the real estate field. Overall, Matthew feels that his integrity, contagious passion, and ability to seek and understand what each customer truly desires are the qualities he finds most valuable in real estate.
Prior to joining Compass, Matthew had one of the top-producing real estate teams within Douglas Elliman. He has worked with a wide array of clients; from first-time home buyers and property investors to Fortune 500 executives and artists in the fashion, music, and entertainment industries. His transaction experience covers not only luxury real estate but sophisticated income property purchases, and rentals as well. Known for his sense of humor and optimism, Matthew strives to maintain an ongoing partnership with clients; making sure their needs are continually met long after transactions conclude. Keeping them informed of the changing market in their areas of interest or the neighborhoods they live in is one of the keys to his success in maintaining valued, long-term relationships as well as continued referrals from appreciative clients.
In his free time, one will likely find Matthew at the gym, golfing, playing guitar, attending sporting events and concerts, riding his motorcycle, or long-distance running. He has run 22 marathons, including ten Boston Marathons as part of the "Marathon Strides Against MS Team" for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Berlin Marathon in support of the American Cancer Society. Matthew also supports The New York Foundling, The Children's Starlight Foundation, the ASPCA, and regularly donates his time to God's Love, We Deliver. Matthew recently gut-renovated a 100-year-old Tudor in Connecticut where he now resides with his wife and their puppy, Walter.
