A fully furnished apartment at Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago has hit the market for $30,000 per month, making it one of the priciest rentals in the Windy City.
Spanning 4,368 square feet, the four-bedroom condo was created by combining two neighboring apartments and “surpasses the size of the average American home,” said listing agent Rafael Murillo, of the RM Luxury Group at Compass.
“Acquired for over $4 million in 2016, my client invested additional millions in merging [the two] units and enhancing various aspects, including the kitchen, bathrooms, sound system and smart-home technology,” Murillo said.
Today, the heart of the home is an open-concept space that encompasses the living room, dining space, kitchen—complete with a quartzite slab-topped island—and family room, all lined with floor-to-ceiling windows offering vistas of the city, river and Lake Michigan.
The east-facing view along the Chicago River is particularly picturesque, “especially during events like New Year’s Eve fireworks or the vibrant green dyeing of the river on St. Patrick’s Day,” Murillo said.
Within the main sitting area, a custom-made couch accommodates up to two dozen people and was “strategically designed to maintain a low profile and avoid obstructing anyone’s view of the city lights,” he added.
The home also boasts two primary suites, integrated wine storage, fireplaces, high ceilings, a home theater and a music room with framed memorabilia, an arcade game, multiple electric guitars and walls covered in black acoustical tile so the next tenant can “rock on without causing any disturbance to your neighbors,” Murillo said.
Mansion Global couldn’t identify the owner of the home, who intends to “retain ownership of this condo for a few more years before ultimately transitioning to a full-time residence in Miami,” according to Murillo. “Would he consider selling today? Potentially, for the right offer.”
Built in 2009, Trump International Hotel & Tower is the second tallest building in Chicago at 1,388-feet high. It offers residents a spa and health club, a fitness center, restaurants and a 24-hour concierge.
