Westport home of Grammy winner Nile Rodgers listed for $5.25M

The all-white home on 9 Covlee Drive in Westport fits in with any of its coastal neighbors with balconies, outdoor entertaining areas and access to the water. What makes this home stand out is the famous resident that’s selling it.

The 4,100-square-foot Westport home is owned by Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Nile Rodgers. The guitarist, composer and producer has worked with musicians like David Bowie, Diana Ross and Madonna to sell “over 500 million albums and 75 million singles,” according to his website.

Rodgers’ work has spanned genres over the years, representing everyone from country musician Keith Urban to pop artists like Sam Smith and Lady Gaga.

The Lower East Side native and Westport resident is selling his waterfront property for $5.25 million. The property includes a deep-water dock and “water views from almost every room of the house,” according to the listing. For listing agent Shelly Tretter Lynch, Rodgers’ Westport home is “simply magical.”

“One can just imagine the creativity that Nile enjoys,” she said in an email. “I have worked with rock stars of all industries, but Nile is the literal rock star legend."

The waterfront property has two balconies, the listing notes, along with a deck and a lawn that extends from the back of the house to the water. Direct access to the coastline makes the Covlee Drive home all the more rare, according to listing agent Chris Gugelmann.

"Waterfront is a limited commodity,” he said in an email. “The increase in value has always been strong, but now this lifestyle [has a] 37 percent increase in value over the past three years.”

There are five bedrooms and four full bathrooms inside, according to the listing, as well as a gym, an indoor exercise pool and a family room loft. The home’s lower level includes 1,500 square feet of space that can be finished for added living space.
